Lahcen Zelmat was unanimously re-elected president of the National Federation of the Hotel Industry (FNIH) during the elective general assembly held on December 20 in Marrakech. This re-election, unsurprisingly, marks a renewed vote of confidence in his leadership and his vision for the Moroccan hotel sector.
The ceremony organized at the Palm Plaza Marrakech hotel brought together key players in the hotel sector, highlighting the importance of this meeting in a context marked by significant economic and social issues. This renewal for a new three-year term confirms the relevance of the actions undertaken under the presidency of Mr. Zelmat and his ability to unite professionals around an ambitious roadmap.
Since his initial election, Lahcen Zelmat has in fact been able to create a dynamic of transformation and adaptation within the FNIH. Under his leadership, the federation stood out through concrete actions aimed at uniting and modernizing the sector, while responding to structural challenges. Among the main achievements are:
Defense of the interests of the profession : The FNIH has positioned itself as a central interlocutor with authorities and institutional partners, carrying the voice of its members on strategic issues such as taxation, competitiveness and regulation of the sector.
Support towards innovation : By initiating modernization programs, the federation has encouraged the adoption of technological solutions to improve establishment management and the customer experience.
Integration of sustainable development : Aware of ecological imperatives, the FNIH has promoted eco-responsible practices and initiatives in favor of sustainability in the sector, thus helping to strengthen Morocco's brand image as an environmentally friendly tourist destination.
The professionalization of actors : Strategic partnerships with national and international institutions have been developed to strengthen the skills of professionals and raise the quality standards of the sector.
For this new mandate, Mr. Zelmat reaffirmed his desire to consolidate the achievements and place the Moroccan hotel sector in a dynamic of increased competitiveness, in line with global transformations. In his speech at the assembly, he said: “This re-election is a mark of confidence and an encouragement to continue our efforts to meet the expectations of our members and to achieve the ambitions of the Moroccan hotel sector. Together, we will continue to carry out innovative projects and meet challenges to strengthen the competitiveness of our sector. »
The priorities of this mandate revolve around three major axes:
1. Strengthening resilience in the face of economic change : The FNIH intends to support its members in managing post-pandemic challenges and anticipate transformations linked to the new expectations of travelers, particularly in terms of digitalization and personalization of the offer.
2. Promoting inclusive and sustainable growth : The federation aims to integrate less developed regions into the tourism dynamic, while strengthening synergies between the hotel sector and other segments of tourism.
3. Driving operational excellence : Through continuing training and certification initiatives, the FNIH aims to raise service standards and position Morocco as a model of quality in the hotel industry at the regional and international level.
Without doubt, the re-election of Lahcen Zelmat comes in a context where Moroccan tourism, although resilient, must face multiple challenges to maintain its role as an economic engine. As a benchmark federation for the hotel sector, the FNIH is at the heart of this ecosystem by playing the role of intermediary and catalyst for structuring initiatives.
By supporting the competitiveness of hotel companies, promoting innovation and integrating sustainability principles, the FNIH actively contributes to Morocco's economic growth. This strategic approach is perfectly in line with the objectives set by the 2023-2030 Tourism Development Plan, which aims to position the country among the most popular destinations in the world.
By relying on a clear vision and concerted actions, the FNIH remains a key player in the transformation of the national tourism landscape, serving professionals and the country's economy.
Thus, the next three years promise to be decisive for the sector, with a shared ambition: to make Morocco an undisputed leader in African hotels and tourism on an international scale.
