(Alliance News) – Direct Line Insurance Group PLC has announced the launch of three new car insurance products on a comparison website.

The products are available on Compare the Market and Direct Line Group plans to expand their availability on other price comparison sites in 2025.

The group announced in July that it planned to launch into price comparison sites, for the first time in the insurance brand's history, after years of telling consumers it was not not present on these sites.

He said that price comparison sites were visited by 90% of consumers when deciding to take out insurance.

Direct Line said on Friday the new products allowed customers to manage their policy digitally, but a telephone service remained in place for claims.

It will continue to sell products directly to consumers.

Direct Line Group Managing Director Adam Winslow described the initiative as “exciting”, adding: “We are implementing a key pillar of our insurance strategy: “We are implementing a key pillar of our business strategy , showing how we can evolve quickly to meet the changing needs of our customers.”

Mark Bailie, Managing Director of Compare the Market, said: “This launch marks an exciting moment for Compare the Market and we are delighted to enter into this exclusive partnership.

Direct Line shares closed 0.2% lower at 242.00 pence each on Friday in London.
