Skoda will increase the range of one of the best-selling electric cars in Europe

The year 2025 will start with a bang for Skoda. After the launch of the new Elroq at the end of 2024, the Czech manufacturer will update its Enyaq electric SUV with, on the program, a new front end and a new, more adventurous spirit.

Everything is accelerating for Skoda in terms of electrics. After having done better than resist for several years with the Enyaq, the Czech manufacturer launched the Elroq a few weeks ago, an electric urban SUV cheaper than its main competitors.

Enough to give a little momentum to Skoda’s electric sales, a momentum that will continue at the start of the year since the brand will present the restyling of its Enyaq. Before its presentation, the manufacturer gives us an overview of the main changes, including a new front end, which adopts the aesthetic codes recently seen on the Elroq, and which would, according to Skoda, to gain a few more precious kilometers in terms of autonomy as we can read in the press release.

Subtle developments

On the program therefore, the large grille disappears, replaced by a finer black element. The advantage of electric is that grilles no longer necessarily need to be there. The logo with the famous Indian also disappears for a Skoda monogram in full letters and darker to contrast with the color of the bodywork.

As the images show, the rest will not really change, with simply a new light signature for the rear lights, while new rims will be added to the catalog, whether for the classic model or the Enyaq coupe.

One of the sketches suggests the potential arrival of an adventurer version, a “Scout” finish perhaps as it once existed on the Octavia. The Enyaq could therefore be entitled to additional protection elements with plastic wheel arches, just like the rocker panels, and the bottom of the shields. To be confirmed.

The 600 km autonomy mark reached?

Technically, Skoda has not confirmed anything apart from slightly improved autonomy thanks to work on the aero via the front. The restyling could also mark the return of the entry-level 60 versions with the 58 kWh battery, which has disappeared from the catalog for a few months now.

Currently, the Enyaq is only available in version 85 with the large 77 kWh battery giving it ranges including between 510 and 580 km of WLTP autonomy depending on the versions (propulsion or four-wheel drive) and finishes.

This will also make it possible to reduce the bill, which currently starts at 53,570 euros in the base 85 version and thus allow it to return below the threshold of 47,000 euros to be eligible for the bonus in in 2025.
