Transavia opens two new lines to Albania and Belgium

Transavia continues its establishment in . After announcing the opening of six new routes and an aircraft based at Bordeaux-Mérignac airport, the airline revealed to “Sud Ouest” the opening of two new routes: Brussels (Belgium) from 18 next April and Tirana (Albania) from July 10. There will be two flights per week, Mondays and Fridays to Brussels, and Thursdays and Sundays to Tirana.

“These are two destinations that were not offered by any other company from Bordeaux. With Brussels, we target both Bordeaux and Brussels residents, particularly for long leisure weekends,” explains Nicolas Hénin, commercial director of Transavia. “Albania is a destination that has emerged a lot in recent years, it is a tourist trend. We launched connections from and which met with a certain enthusiasm. We hope that it will be the same thing in Bordeaux,” he continues.

“We are diversifying”

Regarding the six lines announced in September (Porto, Seville, Marrakech, Agadir, Istanbul, ), “the trend in reservations is encouraging, with a occupancy rate of 80% in December,” assures Nicolas Hénin. A Transavia plane, a Boeing 737-800, has been installed in Bordeaux since December 12. Before this installation, Transavia had very little presence in the capital. The Dutch company had a connection to Dakar (still effective) and to Eindhoven (which no longer exists).

Should we expect new destinations in the future? “We always look at the opportunities that can arise. But for the summer 2025 program, that should not change,” he says. To develop its network in Europe, the low-cost airline mainly targets leisure trips and visiting friends and relatives (VFR) trips, particularly to cities in the Mediterranean. “But we are also diversifying, with destinations like Brussels or Marseille, which are used for leisure but also for business. »
