(Keystone-ATS) The National Council tacitly accepted the project modified the day before by the Council of States.

“Transitional aid for foundries of iron, steel and light metals of strategic importance are the subject of preponderant public interest since they make it possible to maintain industrial production in our country necessary to maintain a recycling sector in Switzerland,” declared Nicolas Kolly (UDC/FR) on behalf of the commission.

The head of the Federal Department of Energy (DETEC) Albert Rösti also welcomed this law, despite his reservations in principle about any state aid to a particular sector. “We are giving a signal indicating that the authorities wish to keep these companies in Switzerland,” he declared.
