Santé Québec announced Monday a wave of appointments of seven senior managers in its integrated health and social services centers (CISSS and CIUSSS).

In control of Quebec’s public health network since December 1, the Santé Québec agency now has the power to choose the big bosses of its establishments.

These choices must always be approved by the council of ministers of the government of Quebec.

Among the seven people selected on Monday, four had already held their interim position for several months.

This is the case of Mr. Duchesne, appointed interim CEO following the departure of Guy Thibodeau for Santé Québec, precisely, at the beginning of August.

Mr. Duchesne was previously deputy CEO to Mr. Thibodeau.

He is a trained nurse.

The CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale brings together more than 18,000 employees in 200 health establishments in the region, from Portneuf to Charlevoix, with the exception of the five major hospitals in Quebec. The CIUSSS oversees, among other things, 29 CHSLDs, 28 CLSCs, six hospital centers, regional public health and regional youth protection.

The other appointments announced by Santé Québec are as follows:

  • Benoit Geneau, CEO of the National Institute of Forensic Psychiatry Philippe-Pinel;
  • Julie Désailliers, deputy CEO of the CISSS de ;
  • Isabelle Matte, CEO of the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’île-de-Montréal, a position she has held in the interim since July 2024;
  • Nesrine Ragguem, CEO of the Montreal Heart Institute, a position she has held in the interim since July 2024;
  • Marie-Ève ​​Desrosiers, CEO of the CHUM, a position she has held in the interim since May 2024;
  • Benoît Major, Deputy CEO of the CISSS des Laurentides.
