The Quebec Maple Syrup Producers (PPAQ) are offering 27,000 bottles of maple syrup to Quebec Food Banks.

The donation is worth $100,000. The PPAQ also presented the Food Banks of Quebec with a cash donation of $3,520, raised through a silent auction held during their semi-annual general meeting last November.

In a press release, the president of PPAQ, Luc Goulet insisted on the importance of giving the product back to Quebecers.

“Maple syrup belongs to all Quebecers,” he said. It is more than a food, it is our national symbol. So it was important for us to share it with those in need.”

“Treating sweet treats with family during the holidays shouldn’t be a privilege,” he added.

The director of the Food Banks of Quebec, Martin Munger, praised the generosity of maple syrup producers.

“Thanks to their support, our network will be able to bring a little sweetness and comfort to many vulnerable families,” he said.

Remember that the PPAQ represents the interests of 13,500 maple syrup producers and more than 8,400 maple syrup companies.
