In France, barely 4 car models have managed to obtain the “Origine France Garantie” label. Three are from a French brand, and the fourth is unsurprisingly Japanese.
Three times a year, the jury for the “Origine France Garantie” label meets to re-evaluate the applications for products deserving the label, or not. Some got it and don't have it anymore, and some earn it. In the automotive industry, vehicles and technical solutions benefiting from the label remain rare. Even more so when we only focus on the car models that can claim the famous tricolor label. This year, there are four, and three are, unsurprisingly, from the same Renault group. The fourth being a Japanese one which replaces another.
Toyota and Renault
Stellantis, which produces many vehicles in France, did not obtain the label. Neither for the 3008, 5008 or 308, nor for the Citroën C5 Aircross and other DS 3. On the other hand, Renault gets 3. Toyota, which already had it on the Yaris, gains it on the Yaris Cross but the city car has meanwhile lost it since its production has been partially relocated to Eastern Europe. Remember that the main criteria for obtaining the label are as follows: “at least 50% of the unit cost price of the product is acquired in France”et “the essential characteristics of the product are acquired in France”.
For 2024, here are the four models which end the year with the Origine France Garantie label:
- Renault 5 – Value rate produced in France of 69%
- Renault 4 – Value rate produced in France of 69%
- Renault Scénic E-Tech – Value rate produced in France of 74%
- Toyota Yaris Cross – Value rate produced in France of 75%
Note also that the small Eden electric vehicle, produced in the South of France, or the retrofit system for Iveco Crossway buses, assembled by Retrofleet, also obtained the precious label.
