The wind project is progressing in the canton of Fribourg. The authorities announced this Wednesday that a first wind measuring mast will be installed in the coming weeks, probably at the beginning of 2025.
Or? The precise location is not yet known. Contacted, Olivier Curty, State Councilor in charge of the file, specified that three agreements had been signed with land owners. One plot is owned by the canton, and the other two by private individuals.
This means that these masts can be installed in any of the seven sites selected, regardless of the agreement of the municipalities concerned. Moreover, these municipalities will be informed in the coming weeks. In total, four masts can be installed simultaneously. Structures that measure 100 meters high.
The measurements will take place in two phases, each lasting one year, in order to analyze the seven sites selected as part of the cantonal wind planning.
Once the mast is installed, the data collected will be broadcast live on a website. This data will then make it possible to define whether or not the site concerned is suitable for the installation of a wind turbine, and this, according to different criteria such as the presence of wind, of course, but also different impact analyses. Total cost of the operation: just under two million francs.
