Air Canada will receive eight Boeing 737-8 aircraft and expects them to enter service next year after required modifications are completed.
The Canadian carrier announced Tuesday that it had reached an agreement with BOC Aviation for the placement of eight Boeing 737-8 aircraft.
Air Canada President and CEO Michael Rousseau said the new aircraft energy efficient and cost effective
would give the air fleet a increased flexibility and capacity
while allowing the company to progress towards one of [ses] sustainability targets for reducing emissions
.
The eight aircraft are expected to be delivered in 2024, and will undergo modifications before they enter service in 2025.
The aircraft will initially operate in an economy-only configuration, Air Canada said in a statement.
They will be powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines.
