The Coordination of Childcare Services (Cosege) emphasizes that these SAEs represent a significant part of the childcare offer in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. The 70 services currently offer 8,120 reception places (18% of the total offer, according to the latest statistics).
However, the profession suffers from a lack of recognition and the sector faces a significant shortage, despite the more than 200 job opportunities identified in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, notes Cosege.
It is therefore launching a promotional campaign this Tuesday in order to make the profession more visible and to provide information on its conditions of practice. The campaign is aimed at the general public and specifically at young people who are thinking about their direction, students who are considering their future employment or even people who wish to reorient themselves “towards a meaningful profession”.
Cosege thus hopes to encourage the recruitment of child carers at home. “Given the current lack of reception places in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, this objective is all the more important,” she notes.
