At the end of last month, they won the Wallonie Entreprendre prize as part of the Startech competition and its final in Gembloux. Five engineers from ULiège had the idea of proposing an effective, discreet and non-stigmatizing device to find out if a drug has been added to a drink. The project team, called “Drinkey”, aims to address the increase in chemical submission attacks in the evening.
By obtaining this prize, the team is supported to continue creating its prototype.
After imagining a system of straws which did not prove to be suitable in practice, they put together an all-in-one kit made up of 10 strips to detect the 3 substances most frequently used during submissive assaults. chemical. “When you suspect your drink has been drugged, grab a swab and dip it in the glass for a few seconds. Take it out of the glass and let it sit for two minutes. If one of the three substances is detected, the relevant box will change color!“, explains the team.
They hope to be able to quickly make a version available for sale as soon as possible. Therefore, they put a small survey online to test their future customers in relation to the real interest of the product.
Congratulations to Justine BOLDRIN (biomedical engineering), Quentin RAEMDONCK (aerospace engineering), Carla-Marie SCANTAMBURLO (chemical engineering), Anthony MAIO (energy engineering) and Federico FERRARO (data science engineering). Together, they won the Wallonie Entreprendre prize as part of the Startech competition, the final of which was held on 10/17 in Gembloux.
The FSA team initiated the “Drinkey” project as part of the “Start-Up Creation Project” course. Their project aims to address the increase in attacks by chemical submission in the evening.
