Crypto airdrop: massive distribution of BLAST is imminent!

New airdrop approaching. Blast is a layer 2 of Ethereum launched last February. With nearly $3 billion in TVL, it is the 4th largest L2 on Ethereum. After several months of waiting, the big day has arrived. Indeed, this Wednesday June 26 marks the distribution of the long-awaited airdrop of the BLAST token.

D-day for the Blast airdrop

It has been several months since Layer 2 Blast has been conducting a points campaign. This aims to reward users who have deposited funds on L2 and used the DeFi protocols deployed there.

This points campaign is now coming to an end. Indeed, the airdrop of the BLAST token was announced for this Wednesday June 26, at 4 p.m. French time.

As a reminder, users were able to accumulate two types of rewards:

  • THE points Blast by bridging funds to L2;
  • Of the Blast Gold using dApps from the Blast ecosystem.

Thus, 50% of the airdrop will be allocated for points and the remaining 50% for Blast Gold.

Tokenomic du jeton BLAST

Alongside the announcement of the airdrop, the Blast teams revealed the tokenomic of their token.

Thus, there will be a total 100 billion BLAST tokenswith an initial offering of $17 billion during the airdrop.

In practice, BLAST tokens will be distributed in the following way:

  • 50% for the community, namely via the airdrop then several subsidy campaigns;
  • 25.5% for main contributors;
  • 16.5% intended for investors;
  • 8% for the Blast Foundation.

On the airdrop side, the 17 billion tokens will be divided into 3 categories:

  • 7 billion for Blast Points;
  • 7 billion for Blast Gold;
  • 3 billion for the Blur Foundation.

Following this announcement, the NFT exchange platform Blur revealed that tokens allocated to the Foundation would be redistributed to users. Thus, funds will mainly be allocated to traders on the platform for the current season as well as subsequent seasons.

Currently, the Blast token is trading around $0.03 on Whales.market, a platform specializing in the exchange of tokens before their launch.

Blast then joins the list of L2s having carried out airdrops. The latest is none other than zkSync, with the distribution of the ZK token. However, like many airdrops, this one was criticized by part of the community. Moreover, the price of the ZK could not resist the downward pressure generated by the massive sales of airdrop allocations.
