The ships Insignia et Nautical of the Oceania company closed the cruise season in Montreal at the end of October, marked by the arrival of nine liners which had never before made a stopover in the metropolis.

Also, the summer of 2024 was marked by the introduction of a brand new shore power system which allowed a dozen ships to connect to the port’s electricity network, which resulted in a saving of 579.4 tonnes of GHGs.
In total, more than 50,000 passengers disembarked in Montreal – the economic impact is estimated at 25 million. This is without counting the refueling of the ships, which took on board more than 248 tonnes of Quebec products, fruits, vegetables, meat, cheeses, seafood and eggs.
The Montreal Port Authority is hopeful of staying the course next year, particularly with the return of companies such as Silversea and Crystal Cruises, the welcoming of new ships and the improvement of visitor experiences.
