New Renault 5 on LLD at €150/month, is this a good deal?

With its Long-Term Rental (LLD) offer, Renault is democratizing access to electric mobility with its Renault 5 E-Tech. But what does this formula really hide from €150 per month?

Is the Renault 5 electric LLD worth it?

The Renault 5 E-Tech is available in several versions, including “Comfort Autonomy” and “Urban Autonomy”. The first has a 52 kWh battery for a range of 410 km, while the second, with its 40 kWh battery, targets 312 km. Prices vary: from €27,990 for “Urban Autonomy” (€23,990 with ecological bonus) and €33,490 for “Comfort Autonomy” (€29,490 bonus deducted). This choice of autonomy and price aims to make electric mobility more accessible without sacrificing comfort.

The flagship offer at €150 per month concerns the basic “Urban Autonomy” finish. For 37 months of rental and a mileage of 30,000 km, Renault asks for a first rent of €9,500, reduced to €4,000 thanks to ecological aid. But be careful: this offer is strictly limited in terms of customization. A change of color or finish increases the price.

An attractive offer, but concessions to be expected

The LLD allows you to drive electric without committing to the purchase. PHowever, over three years, the user still pays around 41.8% of the total price of the vehicle. « This rate exceeds the usual discount for electric cars, which is generally less than 40% over the same period. », specifies Yann Lethuillier. It is also important to note that at the end of the contract, the vehicle must be returned, with no possibility of repurchase. An offer to consider if you want to regularly change your car without worrying about resale.

For €150 per month, the Renault 5 “Urban Autonomy” includes modern equipment as standard: digital dashboard, central screen, cruise control, LED lights… But certain gadgets, like Google services or a route planner , remain reserved for higher versions. For lovers of flexibility, the offer can quickly become restrictive. Finally, be careful of the potential costs when returning it: each kilometer exceeded or scratched can be costly.
