Few new models escape recalls for long. The third generation of Dacia Duster must therefore make a first visit to the workshop, to avoid the risk of a breakdown in electrical continuity which could have various consequences.
The third generation of Dacia Duster has managed to progress in many areas while maintaining an attractive price-performance ratio. Its undersides taken from the Sandero and Jogger or its already proven mechanics also bode well for its reliability. But this will not necessarily prevent teething problems, as almost all modern cars can experience. The main thing will then be for the manufacturer to react quickly enough to provide solutions to its customers. This may notably involve official recalls, such as the one launched by the brand on October 24, 2024 under the code 0EFZ.
What are the issues causing the recall?
In France, 2,680 Duster 3 owners have started to receive registered mail inviting them to go to one of the 3,100 workshops in the Renault-Dacia network. Worldwide, according to the German transport ministry KBA, there are even more than 27,600 examples, some of which are badged Renault in different markets. This campaign is linked to a small connector, called R107, which the driver’s foot could inadvertently uncouple. This would then cause a break in electrical continuity between the wiring of the engine compartment and that of the driving position, with various potential problems: loss of traction, reduced steering assistance, or even malfunction of airbags, reversing sensors and brakes. To avoid putting the safety of occupants and other motorists at risk, Dacia therefore had to organize a recall, as provided for by European regulations in this type of case.
What solution did Dacia find?
The solution found consists of modifying the position of this conductor R107 to put it out of reach of the conductor’s foot and to protect this connection. This intervention will obviously be financially supported by the brand and will last approximately 35 minutes. The Dusters concerned were all manufactured before July 10, 2024, but this date corresponds to when they left the factory. It can therefore differ quite significantly from the date of first registration which appears on your registration document. But you will in any case be notified by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt if your Dacia SUV needs to be returned to the workshop. However, you can use the online service offered by the brand on its site to check that you have not been forgotten. To do this, you will just need the serial number, visible in box E of the registration document and at the base of your driver’s side windshield.
