At the Health Forum, Fabrice Zumbrunnen pleads for integrated networks: “This is the start of a long adventure”

Fabrice Zumbrunnen smiles: “The stationary domain is more complex than I imagined.” After a quarter of a century within the Migros group, which he managed for five years, Chaux-de-Fonnier discovered the world of health and the network of 21 private clinics of Swiss Medical Network (SMN). For him, “care systems are often organized in silos and the greatest difficulty is obtaining a global, holistic vision of our clients’ journey.” Faced with nearly 500 participants of the Health Forum organized this Thursday evening by Time and Heidi.news in the amphitheater of the University of Lausanne, the new boss of Aevis defends integrated care networks.

In October 2022, SMN, the insurer Visana and the Bernese Jura Hospital created the Arc Network, to launch in Switzerland this concept imported from the United States. They thus hoped to show that it was possible to reduce health costs, an old Swiss sea snake. Integrated care networks are based on a paradigm shift. Doctors are no longer paid on a fee-for-service basis, but on a “capitation” basis, that is to say a flat rate depending on the number of insured people and their profiles, regardless of the care provided. They are therefore encouraged to practice prevention rather than multiply interventions and bills, at the risk of sliding towards overmedicalization.
