• Dodge would advance planned production of the next gas-powered Dodge Charger.

When Dodge announced it was ending production of the Charger sedan and Challenger coupe at the end of 2023, it was making a bold move, as both of these models were still selling well, despite their age.

The future was all electric, with a replacement named Charger Daytona. This was the way to go.

Shortly after, we learned that Dodge was also going to market a gasoline-powered Charger sedan, this time equipped with the 6-cylinder Hurricane engine, rather than thunderous V8s. What remained true to plan was the electrical proposal first. However, it was felt that the company was doubtful that things would continue to be profitable without gasoline versions.

And now we learn that these gasoline versions could arrive on the market faster than expected. The electric Daytona will always be the first to arrive in dealerships, and it should happen before the end of the year. However, the first gasoline variant, which was due to be launched towards the end of 2025, would be brought forward.

Indeed, according to sources on the MoparInsiders site, the model would appear at dealers at the beginning of summer 2025. The reason is very simple; demand would be very strong. In fact, more people want a gas-powered Dodge Charger than an electric Dodge Charger.

There is nothing surprising there. Dodge has built its image on the performance and sound of its gasoline engines. This is what its traditional clientele wants.

We understand the gesture. And add to that that between the time the decision was made to make the Dodge Charger go all-electric, and the time it was about to hit the market, there was a slowdown in demand and anticipated growth for electric vehicles. What Dodge planned with the electric Charger has certainly been scaled back.

However, the company must make profits if it wants to succeed in its transition, but above all, if it wants to survive.

The good news for Dodge is that the structure of the new Charger can accommodate different mechanical solutions, which helps minimize costs.

The gasoline-powered Dodge Charger will be offered in two configurations, either with the regular version of the engine, as well as with the high-efficiency one. The 3.0-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine will offer between 420 or 550 horsepower, not to mention that a more efficient 670-horsepower variant is reportedly in preparation.

We’ll have more details in the coming months, especially if Dodge moves forward with this new timeline.
