Over the months, Electra continues its development in order to reach 15,000 charging points by 2030. The French company has just concluded a new partnership with Burger King in Belgium. 400 kW chargers will be installed in around twenty establishments.

Electra and Burger King have reached an agreement to equip the franchise’s parking lots with ultra-powerful chargers. On October 23, 2024, the first station opened at Burger King in Zandhoven, Belgium. In total, 20 establishments will benefit from the French firm’s facilities. This first Belgian site now has 6 charging points intended for fast food customers, but not only that.

Indeed, the charging stations will also be accessible to the public outside opening hours. Electra specifies that all charging stations will have at least four 400 kW chargers. Each Alpitronic HYC400 column allows 2 vehicles to be connected at the same time. There will therefore be at least 2 units, or even 3, in the 20 Burger King concerned by this collaboration.

Belgium and Switzerland in the crosshairs

This summer, Electra raised 75 million euros (from ABN Amro, Caisse d’Épargne Hauts-de-, CACIB and Société Générale) to establish a lasting presence in Belgium. It is one of the priority countries in the company’s strategy. This sum is intended to cover 60% of the investment for fast chargers in Belgium. The Parisian firm assures that it can cover the rest itself.

At the same time, Electra also plans to deploy 400 kW chargers in Switzerland. As in France, the company has entered into a strategic partnership with Accor to establish a place in this border market. The hotel group has signed an agreement with the start-up to equip its hotel car parks with efficient charging infrastructure. The first station is expected early next year.
