While going to pick up her pill at the pharmacy, Elisabeth Leclerc decided to launch an appeal to everyone to sign the petition issued by the co-spokesperson of Québec solidaire, Ruba Ghazal.

“I found there was a certain irony in having to buy contraception at the pharmacy the day after the election that wants to restrict the reproductive rights of women in the United States,” she explained in interview at LCN, Friday.

Once the video was published on social networks, the number of signatures continued to increase.

More than 55,000 people have signed the petition as of this writing.

“In my values, I would like us to invest in contraceptive methods so that they are accessible to everyone in Quebec,” said the young woman.

She believes that the government can use the province’s coffers to find funds to apply this measure to all Quebecers.

“Everything is a question of choice in the government budget,” thought Elisabeth Leclerc.

The petition ends on November 26.
