“This is a very costly mistake”

Philately remains a passion for many Belgians, although some believe that this hobby is slowly starting to disappear. However, stamps remain very rare and very expensive. One of them was recently purchased for $4.4 million.

Jacky, a resident of Hasselt, is a passionate philatelist who intended to complete his personal collection. As Het Belang van Limburg explains, he bought €268.7 worth of stamps from a Bulgarian seller. Well aware of the sum that this represents, although it is very far from the million dollars, the Belgian decided to insure his package by asking the seller that it be registered. But unfortunately, the letter, sent at the end of July, was lost at the beginning of August. “On August 5, the letter was in Belgium, the next day at 8:35 a.m. the shipment was prepared for delivery and at 8:44 a.m. the postman was on the way,” Jacky explains to the Flemish newspaper.

The Limburger finally noticed on the Bpost website that his package was not going to be delivered due to unforeseen circumstances. Neither one nor two, Jacky hastened to go to the post office to ask to look for his letter. Nothing was found and all that remains is to ask for compensation, which Bpost refuses, passing the responsibility on to… the Bulgarian post office.

A cold shower for Line when she opened her Zalando order for 970 euros: she understood just by seeing the package, “I have to pay 480 euros for that…”

And if that wasn’t enough, Jacky was informed that only the sender could file a claim. He then contacted him to ask him to resolve the situation. For his part, the Bulgarian seller claims to have filed a complaint with the local post office. Today, Jacky remains desperate in the face of this hellish situation. “The seller has no more news from the Bulgarian post office. This is a very costly mistake that I now have to pay for…”
