ON VIDEO | Anger of blue-collar workers in : reinforced security and tense atmosphere in front of city hall

A large gathering of blue-collar workers takes place Tuesday evening in front of city hall.

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in the parking lot in front of the building.

Some even managed to infiltrate inside, according to images captured by journalist Alberto Georgian Mihut, from Media Laval.

The city administration has been holding a municipal council meeting since 6:30 p.m.

The demonstrators, however, did not manage to enter the room where the hearing took place.

Police officers have been deployed to city hall to ensure security. It would even be agents of the riot police who would be on site, according to the local newspaper.

For the moment, everything seems “under control”, informed Lieutenant Robert Deblois.

“It doesn’t seem to be overflowing,” he added.

In the images, it is nevertheless possible to see that the numerous demonstrators are very noisy within the city hall.

Many use drums or flutes to make themselves heard.

Sound boxes are also deployed in the parking lot to play rock music to encourage those gathered.

At the time of writing these lines, the Laval Blue Collar Union (CUPE 4545) has still not responded to requests from TVA Nouvelles as to the reasons for this demonstration.
