The Memphrémagog police department, in Estrie, opened an investigation after the discovery of metal parts and needles in Halloween candy by citizens in a Magog neighborhood.
Sunday afternoon, a person contacted municipal police to report the presence of a metal piece resembling a clip inserted into a candy.
“However, the packaging seemed intact before the discovery of the object,” indicated the Memphrémagog Police Authority (RPM) in a press release.
Three days earlier, another citizen told the police that he had found a sewing pin with a round white tip in a bag containing candy.
“An investigation has obviously been opened in order to find out whether the two events are linked together and with the aim of determining whether these are malicious acts,” said the Police Authority.
While calling on parents to be extra careful, the RPM asks people who notice anomalies during the inspection of candy to call 819 843-3334, extension 0.
As a reminder, during Halloween evening, needles, a pin and a tablet were found in chocolates and a bag of candy collected in Lévis, Portneuf and Longueuil.
