Stealing a giant stracciatella ice cream, we don’t know how the idea came to three soldiers, obviously drunk, who were walking in the streets of Andermatt (UR), Friday, shortly after midnight. A reader filmed the scene from her home. In the video, we see the soldiers trying several times to carry this advertising decoration weighing 200 kilos, placed in front of a restaurant in the Uranese town.

“It’s so daring!”, quips the one who captured the moment. “Plus, it’s a true work of art that was recently repainted.” In their maneuver, these clumsy soldiers actually dropped the sculpture. Once in control again, they then dragged her for about a hundred meters, before righting her and finally abandoning her on the sidewalk opposite.

The owner of the ice cream was alerted by her friend, author of the video. On Saturday, he was still waiting for the police to come and make a report: “I’m leaving it there for now, because otherwise, you might think I broke it when I brought it back.” The bill risks being steep. “The decoration cost 5,000 francs and now it is very damaged. It will probably cost a lot of money, the man regrets. So, yes, we were all young, we all did stupid things but this is going too far.”

This is not the first time that soldiers have caused problems in Andermatt, where there is a military barracks: noise and broken windows have already occurred several times.

Delphine Schwab-Allemand, spokesperson for the Federal Department of Defense, says she did not know about this incident until our colleagues from “20Minuten” asked her about it. But the communicator assures that the case is under investigation. For the moment, she does not know which troop these three soldiers, stationed in Andermatt last week, belong to.
