New drones for the Moroccan army

Morocco continues to strengthen its defense capabilities and is working to modernize its drone fleet for greater effectiveness and efficiency in intelligence, surveillance and combat missions. Since 2021, Morocco has acquired several drones, including the Bayraktar TB2 from the Turkish company Baykar, and is now reportedly interested in the Bayraktar Kizilelma, with supersonic capabilities and stealth characteristics, and the Bayraktar TB3.

The Royal Armed Forces have a greater preference for drones because they present a clear advantage, not only in terms of deterrence and reactivity, but also and above all operating costs. Morocco does not skimp on the means to train its military personnel in the operation and maintenance of drones, both locally and abroad.

To avoid relying on its suppliers, Morocco has established partnerships with international companies to produce weapons and drones locally. An ambitious project which aims to strengthen its autonomy, create specific jobs and boost the economy. The Moroccan government is committed to developing the military industry sector, including the manufacturing of weapons and ammunition as well as the maintenance of military aircraft.
