64,918 units sold at the end of May

Sales of new cars in Morocco stood at 64,918 units at the end of May 2024, up 1.39% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the Association of Motor Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM ).

By segment, new registrations of private vehicles (PC) fell by 0.29% to 58,193 units, while sales of light utility vehicles (LCV) recorded an increase of 18.82% to 6,725 units, specifies the Association which has just published its monthly statistics.

The “Dacia” brand dominates the passenger car segment, with a market share of 26.16%, or 15,225 new registrations since the start of the year, followed by Renault which has sold 9,000 units (market share of 15.47 %) and Hyundai (4,786 units and 8.22% market share).

As for light utility vehicles (LCV), Renault increased its sales by 46.07% (1,782 units), or 26.50% market share, ahead of Ford which saw its sales rise to 922 units (13 .71% market share) and DFSK (766 units for 11.39% market share).

On the premium side, Audi reached a market share of 3.17% with 1,845 cars sold, ahead of BMW (a market share of 2.77% and 1,612 units) and Mercedes-Benz (a market share of 2.13%). and 1,238 units).

For its part, Porsche has sold 276 units since the start of 2024, up 43.01% compared to the end of May 2023, while Jaguar sales decreased by 14% to 43 cars sold.

For the month of May 2024 alone, sales statistics show 15,970 units sold for the PC and LCV segments, recording an increase of 8.46% compared to May 2023 when 14,725 units were sold.
