His post quickly went viral with more than 65,000 likes and 2.5 million views, putting pressure on the Brets brand. The latter finally chickened out by deleting her tweet and effectively canceling her competition. On Monday, Brets explained this big failure by publishing a press release in which she blamed her “favorite trainee” who “struck again”.

Brets salutes the “incredible creativity” of Internet users

According to the brand, this improvised competition which appeared on its account “was still in draft form”. “Our enthusiasm exceeded our caution, and lo and behold, the post ended up online, before disappearing as quickly as a handful of chips,” explains the chip manufacturer, however saluting the “incredible creativity” of Internet users. “We note all your most realistic suggestions but this time, with more rigor (and a little less spontaneity on the part of our dear intern),” assures Brets.

The Breton chipmaker's response was moderately appreciated by Internet users, many of them attacking the brand for having blamed an intern. “The intern has a good back,” some are offended. “Worst crisis communication,” denounces another, disgusted at not being able to test his gasoline-flavored chips.
