The Nutri-Score will gradually be removed from Migros products. Its usefulness is too low in view of the high costs it involves, explained the orange distribution giant in a press release on Tuesday.
The announcement was made as part of the restructuring within Migros Supermarché. “Three years after its introduction, the Nutri-Score is still too little known and often raises a lot of questions. On the other hand, integrating or adapting the Nutri-Score requires a lot of packaging effort,” explains a Migros spokesperson. without giving more details on the exact costs.
However, comprehensive information on the nutritional values of the products will continue to appear on the packaging of all Migros items. “The nutritional values per serving are indicated on all products online and wherever possible also on the packaging, including information on the indicative values for the daily intake used, known as reference quantities”, specifies the door -speech.
Migros introduced the Nutri-Score for all its own brands in 2021. This signage, based on a color scale going from A to E, makes it possible to assess the nutritional quality of a product at a glance, in the aim of simplifying the daily purchasing decision. A green A indicates that the product has particularly advantageous nutritional values. On the other hand, a red E is synonymous with lower quality nutritional values.
