Hydro-Québec prepares to sell its electric motor to Dana

After giving up certain activities the multinational HitachiHydro-Québec wants to sell its remaining 45% stake in Dana TM4, which designs and manufactures electric motors.

“Hydro-Québec is proud of what the partnership with Dana has accomplished in recent years, as well as the development and commercialization of TM4 technology,” said Maxime Aucoin, Executive Vice-President, Strategies and Finance in a press release published Friday morning.

In Boucherville, on the South Shore of Montreal, the number of Dana TM4 employees had more than doubled since 2018, going from 127 to 300, underlines the state-owned company.

Employees who are not very talkative

Friday morning, the employees were not very talkative.

“We heard the news this morning,” said several of them, without wanting to get involved in the future of the company on Quebec soil.

Workers interviewed by The newspaper claimed to know no more than what was publicly announced.

Four years ago, The newspaper reported that Hydro-Québec and its joint venture Dana TM4 were going to invest $25 million to build a factory in India, have a production line in the United States and buy the British Ashwoods Electric Motors.
