Oracle confirms the launch of its Research & Development center in Morocco

As we announced first, the American giant Oracle officially confirmed today its plan to launch a Research & Development center in Morocco, news which should stimulate the technology sector in the country.

The confirmation came after Ghita Mezzour, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, signed an agreement with Oracle Corporation during a ceremony in San Francisco, United States.

This R&D center, the first of its kind in Africa, will recruit more than 1,000 highly qualified Moroccan profiles, with priority given to engineers and doctoral researchers. The main objective of the center will be to design and develop innovative solutions intended to be deployed throughout the world. These solutions will touch areas considered cutting-edge, notably artificial intelligence and the cloud, in which Oracle is considered a global benchmark.

Oracle, one of the world’s largest technology companies, is headquartered in Redwood City, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley. In 2023, the group achieved a turnover of $50 billion, thus confirming its leading position in the areas of relational databases, cloud computing, data management, intelligence artificial intelligence, business management and financial services, among others.

This project is expected not only to strengthen Oracle’s position as a major player in the global technology market, but also to contribute to the economic and technological development of Morocco, by providing employment opportunities and stimulating innovation in the technology sector.
