The “Top Gun” will not save Quebec

Last week, Christian Dubé introduced us to Geneviève Biron, the new Top Gun of Santé Québec. It’s Mme Biron who now has the heavy mandate of ensuring that Quebecers can see concerted results in our hospitals and throughout the network.

Unfortunately for Mme Biron, the expectations are enormous and she will not get any gifts. We quickly saw union activists mobilize to disrupt an allowance from her and Minister Dubé last week.

Even if the union leaders say that they will give the rider a chance, we can doubt it.

Transportation

After the health network, it is now Geneviève Guilbault, in Transport, who is looking for a Top Gun for its new Mobilité Infra Québec agency.

The good news is that there are about sixty people who wanted to become Top Gun health, but which were not chosen. Mme Guilbault therefore already has a pool of potential Top Gun applications from which she can draw…

On the other hand, it is very revealing to see a minister tell us that her department does not have enough good employees to play this role. She’s probably not wrong. But why isn’t his ministry already filled with good people to carry out Quebec’s major transportation projects?

Several mayors denounce the government’s lack of vision when it comes to public transportation, but it is clear that the delivery problem is real.

Responsibility

The big question is who will now be responsible.

For example, Minister Dubé says that Mme Biron will be responsible for the OPTILAB file. A good thing, Mme Biron comes from this area.

But, are the ministers going to run away and put everything on the backs of the Top Gun?

I hope not. Because according to the latest news, these are not the Top Gun who have their face on a stake every four years.
