“With the ILO, we have agreed to continue our interactions and explore new avenues of collaboration together, particularly around themes of common interest such as care professions and personal and community services,” underlined Ms. Tricha in a statement to the press, on the occasion of a visit made by the Director General of the ILO, Gilbert Houngbo, to the City of Trades and Skills (CMC) of Tamesna.

The DG of the OFPPT noted, in this sense, that the ILO remains a key player in the employment/training ecosystem on the international scene, reiterating the OFPPT’s commitment to supporting strategic projects carried out in Morocco, in favor of skills development and the promotion of employability of young people, including projects undertaken with the ILO.

For his part, Mr. Houngbo welcomed his visit to the CMC of Tamesna, stressing that it is crucial to develop trades and skills at different levels to stem the problem of youth employment, especially in a evolving world where artificial intelligence is starting to take over.

During this visit, the DG of the ILO, accompanied by a delegation, was able to learn about the efforts made by Morocco for the development of vocational training, in particular the ambitious project of establishing a new generation of training establishments, the backbone of the new roadmap for the development of professional training.

On this occasion, the ILO delegation visited the different spaces of the CMC Tamesna, including the common structures, the innovation chain and the training workshops. This City offers diversified training open to 79 sectors with a capacity of 4,560 teaching places.

As a reminder, the OFPPT has contributed to numerous projects initiated as part of cooperation with its historic partner the ILO, in particular the THAMM project (2019-2022) whose objective is the preparation, implementation and/ or the improvement of regular mobility schemes and the legal framework relating to migration and regular mobility which resulted, in this pilot phase, in the recruitment of nearly 50 OFPPT graduates, 43 of whom are in pre-departure training for Germany, and 50 others in Belgium.

The OFPPT will also contribute to the second phase of the THAMM project, for the period 2024-2028, aimed at complementing the bilateral mobility programs implemented between the countries of North Africa and the Member States of the European Union (EU). ).

The Office of Vocational Training and Labor Promotion also participated in the STED-AMT (Skills for Trade and Economic Diversification) project, a regional initiative launched by the ILO and financed by the Korean Agency KOICA, in countries of the Maghreb, including Morocco, which allowed the sectoral analysis of two branches, namely IT Offshoring (ITO) and Biscuit, Chocolate and Confectionery (BCC). Thus, 15 OFPPT employees benefited from training on the STED approach, which provides strategic direction for the integration of skills development into sectoral policies.

Another project was developed with the ILO, between 2012 and 2016, relating to “Young People at Work”, which resulted in the signing in 2014 of a letter of intent between the OFPPT and the ILO for the raising awareness among young people of the entrepreneurial spirit and initiative in vocational training establishments. It also enabled the training and certification of trainers and managers of OFPPT entrepreneurship support desks in entrepreneurship and financial education.

Furthermore, the CLE “Entrepreneurship Training” Program was initiated in 2008 with funding from the Canadian international development agency (CIDA), having enabled the training of 66,729 trainees, in addition to the training of 606 trainers.
