A Minnesota couple and their dog have died following a violent explosion that shattered their home.

The victims are Royce Edward Kreger and Katherine Ann Kreger, two sixty-year-olds living in Princeton. Their death was confirmed at the scene of the tragedy. The body of their dog was also found in the rubble.

Tuesday morning, emergency services were called just before 4 a.m. to the property of a residence which was reduced to smithereens.

Mille Lacs County Deputy Manager Aaron Evenson says it’s the biggest explosion he’s seen in his 23-year career.

The debris fell over an area of ​​more than 8,000 square feet. The explosion was so powerful that cabinets were thrown into the walls of a neighboring house.

The explosion was felt up to 37 kilometers away.

“It was mass destruction,” Aaron Evenson said in an interview with local television station Kare 11.

Police and firefighters are still trying to find out the exact cause of this event.
