The first steps of the Barnier government

They will not vote for this measure announced by the Prime Minister. On X, Marine Le Pen announced this Friday, October 4 that RN deputies will oppose the six-month delay in pension indexation (new window) on inflation, planned by the government in the draft budget for 2025.

“Postponing the indexation of pensions means robbing our elders of billions of euros of purchasing power. I will refuse this measure, which is all the more petty as it leaked the day after Mr. Barnier’s silent speech on this maneuver already used by Mr. Hollande and Mr. Macron”wrote the far-right MP.

4 billion euros in savings thanks to this measure

This postponement is part of a massive effort of 60 billion euros in savings (new window)intended to fill the country’s abysmal deficit. Retirees will not have a reassessment of their pension on January 1 as planned, but on July 1, a six-month postponement which should make it possible to free up “around four billion savings”the Ministry of Labor told AFP.

“Every day, revelations confirm that we were right to warn of the ruin of public accounts by Macronie with the complicity of the LR. The recovery of public accounts requires truth, courage and confidence, not blind and therefore unfair measures”added Marine Le Pen.

Reacting to these comments, Michel Barnier, visiting this Friday at the Livestock Summit in Cournon-d’Auvergne (Puy-de-Dôme), responded to Marine Le Pen: “If, in the parliamentary discussion, there are new ideas, I am open to finding other solutions.”
