(Ecofin Agency) – With the sustained growth of tourism, an important sector for the national economy, Morocco often adjusts its outlook for air transport, a crucial support instrument for this area.

As part of its revised objectives for civil aviation, Morocco has set itself a target of 65 million passengers by 2037. According to Transport Minister Mohammed Abdeljalil, the Kingdom is counting on structuring reforms and investments in courses at Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and the National Airports Office to achieve this objective.

Royal Air Maroc has recently implemented a plan to increase its fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037, while ONDA has planned to increase the capacity of the country’s airports to 80 million annual travelers by 2040, compared to 40 million currently. .

The “open skies” agreement signed in 2006 with the European Union strengthened the interconnection of Moroccan airports with the rest of the world, with more than 150 destinations compared to 90 previously, covered by more than 45 airlines.

The ONCF (National Railway Office) also plays an important role in this roadmap which plans to connect airports to rail networks. In full growth, the tourism sector is also positioned as a strategic link to stimulate traffic. This sector, interdependent with air travel, also constitutes an essential source of foreign revenue.
