An entire tax team leaves a large firm to join EY. Who are they?

Fourteen years after making his professional debut there, Me Audrey Gibeault returns to EY. And she doesn’t come alone…

The lawyer, who was partner in charge of the tax department at Lavery in Montreal, where she practiced for 12 years, arrives at EY – also in Montreal – with a complete team.

It was as a senior tax associate that this chartered professional accountant (CPA) began her professional career at EY at the end of the 2000s. Admitted to the bar in 2011, she continued her career as director of international taxation at Deloitte, before joining Lavery.

The return was made with confidence. “Former colleagues came to ask me to come back,” explains Me Gibeault, who saw this as an opportunity to develop his service offering. “My clientele is growing strongly, I needed to seek out much more specialized expertise. »

The tax lawyer will work in a market that she knows well. “EY serves a lot of mid-sized companies, ten million in revenue and above, which is the sector I have always worked for. »

Specializing in family businesses, Audrey Gibeault is a moderator in several family councils. She intends to provide these family businesses with the benefit of a wide range of expertise. “It is an asset to be part of an accounting firm that offers many specialties. »

The lawyer takes an ambitious look at her market. “In Quebec, we are in the wave of family business transfers. Baby boomers are at the age of handing over ownership of their stocks. The next generation is finding its place. And we must offer profit-sharing to management employees. It is a great ecosystem for tax lawyers, responsible for planning the transfer of property. I find it interesting to offer services in continuity, which a traditional firm cannot offer. »
