Everything started well though. As of September 2020, the hydrogen strategy directed 7.2 billion euros of public funding towards the sector. A year later, the France 2030 plan added 1.9 billion, intended for the decarbonization of industry, heavy transport and the construction of an electrolysis sector, an essential brick for locally producing low-carbon hydrogen. . Then… not much. Budgets are struggling to be released. The recent executive vacancy is not the only explanation. France is hesitating, budgets are being released slowly, implementing decrees are being delayed.
For companies in the sector, this suspended time becomes very problematic. “ It is time for politicians to align statements and facts », argues Philippe Boucly, president of France Hydrogène, a federation of players in the sector.
