The inauguration of the first photovoltaic power plant in Grand Photovoltaic took place on the site of the power plant, at “La Piastronomierie”, Wednesday September 25, 2024, in the presence of numerous personalities (1). “ The site was chosen because it is located outside the town of Coulombiers, in a commercial area which was experiencing gradual development.explains Isabelle Maupin, mayor of the town. The project has not received any unfavorable comments from the population. »
The mayor welcomes the renewable energy projects carried out in the town: methanization, wind power, geothermal energy.

Eight other projects on the urban community

The plant covers 13 hectares for a production of 14 megawatts, enough to supply the inhabitants of Coulombiers, Lusignan, -le-Comte and Marçay. Eight other projects in the urban community should see the light of day, for commissioning by the end of 2027. The municipalities concerned are Lusignan, Migné-Auxances, Poitiers, Biard, Vouneuil-sous-Biard and Fontaine-le-Comte. The plants will generate a total of 60 gigawatts which will supply 30,000 inhabitants.

Florence Jardin, president of Grand Poitiers, explains: “ Ademe (Ecological Transition Agency) requires a massive transformation of our energy consumption, while promoting short circuits. We need to achieve less than 25% fossil energy and more than 30% renewable energy. »
Frédéric Bouvier, chairman of the board of directors of the Sorégies group, adds: “ We commit today. Many talk about it, few do it. »

“The panels are installed for at least 30 years”

The project cost 9.6 million euros. 23,841 panels, from Asia, were deployed. Hervé Le Comte, ENR Sorégie production director, explains: “ The sector is working to reindustrialize in , but we have lost the skills through the choices we have made for years. The panels are installed for at least 30 years. The components wear very little. The carbon cost, from manufacturing to installation, will be completely absorbed in just 3 or 4 years. » He adds: “ Even in bad weather, the panels produce up to 10%, thanks to crystal technology. It is only at night that they no longer produce at all. We will have to change our consumption habits. »

Elected officials assure that the environmental issues of the installation have been taken into account and that tomorrow, sheep and goats will be frolicking under the tables.
