Third in two months, in Elgg (ZH)

For the third time in a few weeks, a building was engulfed in flames in Elgg (ZH) during the night from Saturday to Sunday. This time, the broke out in an isolated shed where wood chips were stored. “To combat the outbreaks that continued to form, the building had to be largely demolished using a crane,” Zurich cantonal police said in a press release published Sunday morning. The material damage is estimated at “several tens of thousands of francs”. No injuries were reported.

On March 16, several buildings in the center of the village were completely destroyed by flames. Rebelote on April 16, when an uninhabited building caught fire, again in the center of the town. “The criminal trail cannot be excluded,” declared a spokesperson for the cantonal police at the time. A speech which has evolved slightly with the new disaster this weekend. “The theory of arson is favored,” the police wrote in their press release. And to specify: “The investigations, already underway, by the Zurich cantonal police, in close collaboration with the Prosecutor’s , are continuing.”
