On the evening of April 26, the municipality of Shenyang, capital of the northeastern province of Liaoning, established an agreement with the German automobile group BMW on deepening their strategic cooperation.
BMW announced a plan to invest an additional 20 billion yuan ($2.76 billion) in upgrading and technological innovation at its production base in Dadong District, Shenyang, to strengthen its presence on the Chinese market.
Thanks to these new investments, BMW’s production base in Shenyang, which is already equipped with a quality control system and a visual detection system assisted by artificial intelligence (AI), will be able to continue in its development of intelligent and ecological manufacturing, so as to highlight sustainable development in all its functional aspects.
In recent years, the BMW Group has invested in several development projects in Shenyang.
In June 2022, its first new energy vehicle manufacturing base in the world, in which the German group invested 15 billion yuan, began operation in the Tiexi district factory of BMW-Brillance automobile group (co group). -financed by BMW and the Chinese group Brilliance Auto).
In November 2023, the construction of the main building of its automobile battery project, in which BMW invested 10 billion yuan, was completed.
