The first edition of “Safety Day 2024” was organized on Friday at the Dakhla Atlantique port construction site, in commemoration of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

Initiated by the Dakhla Atlantique Port Development Directorate, under the Ministry of Equipment and Water, this event is part of efforts aimed at shedding light on measures likely to strengthen the systems of occupational safety and health and improve the management of occupational risks at the Dakhla Atlantique port.

This event, held under the theme “Safety on public works sites”, also aims to guarantee a safe and healthy working environment during the different phases of construction of this port platform.

Speaking on this occasion, the director of the Dakhla Atlantique Port Development Directorate, Nisrine Iouzzi, indicated that the organization of “Safety Day” aims to raise awareness of the importance of security management. health and safety at work, particularly on large construction sites, such as the Dakhla Atlantique port, highlighting the need for the exchange of expertise and experience and good practices in this area.

Aware of the importance of the issue of health and safety at work, she continued, the Management has decided, since the start of the implementation of this major project, to adopt a system modern and effective management based on the identification and evaluation of potential risks.

Management has also opted for the implementation of adequate preventive measures and the improvement of the efficiency of the teams responsible for health and safety, she continued.

Ms. Iouzzi also emphasized the effectiveness of the occupational safety and health management system adopted in the Dakhla Atlantique port site, specifying that this site employs more than 1,600 people, including engineers, technicians and skilled workers.

In this wake, she indicated that thanks to the efforts made by the specialized safety teams, no fatal accident occurred, specifying that only 19 accidents and 5 incidents were recorded, after more than 4 and a half million working hours.

On this occasion, Ms. Iouzzi reiterated the commitment of the executives and bodies in charge of port management, each by their position, to demonstrate great vigilance and to make security an absolute priority, emphasizing the The importance of effective communication between operational health and safety actors and organizations at work.

The program for this day includes thematic workshops focused on “Road safety”, “First aid”, “Work at height” and “Maritime work”, supervised by a host of executives from the National Agency. road safety (NARSA), Civil Protection and executives of organizations working in the port.

This event was marked by the participation of representatives of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region and representatives of the regional commands of the Royal Navy, the Royal Gendarmerie and Civil Protection, as well as actors and operational organizations of health and safety at work.
