“As summer draws to a close, I can’t tell you how relieved I am to have finally finished my chemotherapy treatment,” Kate Middleton wrote in a message posted on social media on Monday, September 9.

The Princess of Wales announced on March 22 that she had cancer, without specifying the exact nature, and was undergoing preventive chemotherapy. Since this announcement, the princess has made a few rare public appearances, last June at Trooping the Colour, then at the Wimbledon tennis tournament in July, where she was applauded at length.

Regaining control of their communication, after mistakes at the beginning of the princess’s illness, Kate and William deliver in this message, written and accompanied by a video, their own story. Describing the way they faced the illness, with their children.

“The last nine months have been incredibly difficult for our family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and unfamiliar roads,” the princess shared in this message to the public.

At the beginning of her illness, her hospitalization, then her long absence and especially the stubborn silence of Kensington and the photos released to reassure the public, fueled the wildest theories about her state of health. The announcement of the princess’s cancer had been a real shock for the whole country, especially since King Charles III had also announced that he had cancer.

In the video accompanying Kate’s message, we see beautiful images of Kate, William and their three children walking in the woods, Kate with her head resting on William’s shoulder, in a forest.

“My goal now is to do everything in my power to be cancer-free. Although chemotherapy is over, the road to recovery and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” the princess said in her message. “I am, however, looking forward to returning to work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months, when I am able.”
