Cheb Hasni, the king of raï, returns to the stage thanks to the hologram in Casablanca

On April 5, Casablanca will host a unique event: a holographic concert dedicated to the memory of one of the biggest names in raï music, Cheb Hasni.

You would never have imagined it: attending a Cheb Hasni concert in 2025. And yet, thanks to hologram technology, it is becoming reality. This evening, which will be held at the Studio des Arts Vivants in Casablanca, promises to be rich in emotions for fanatics of this unforgettable artist, whose songs continue to resonate across generations.

Over the course of his short career, Cheb Hasni has established himself as an icon of sentimental raï. With his soft voice and his words imbued with sincerity, he was able to capture the hearts of North African youth and beyond. His first big success, “Tal Ghiabek Ya Ghzali”, dedicated to his wife Melouka, brought him to the top of the music scene. He then had a string of hits, including “Matebkich”, “Sbart ou Tal Adabi” and the unforgettable “Lbaïda mon amour”.

In just eight years, he produced more than 150 albums, becoming a true spokesperson for the emotions and hopes of an entire generation. Assassinated in September 1994, Cheb Hasni remains a legend whose mark cannot be erased. His artistic legacy endures and his songs remain timeless classics.

The hologram: a technological revolution

Thanks to the magic of the hologram, Cheb Hasni will “return on stage” in Casablanca. This technology consists of creating a three-dimensional image, projected to give the illusion of a flesh-and-blood being. The hologram not only reproduces the appearance of an artist, it also recreates their gestures and movements. This technique, which conquered the international audience with concerts by stars like Tupac Shakur or Whitney Houston, made its debut in Morocco in 2024 during the 19th edition of the Mawazine Festival, with a concert dedicated to the Egyptian diva Oum Kalthoum.
