Throughout the pages, the author explains that the husband of the 47-year-old princess experienced a mishap during their engagement, dating back to February 24, 2009. As a reminder, the lovebirds were then married on June 19, 2010 in the cathedral. from Stockholm and they have been, since 2012 and 2016, the parents of two children: Princess Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary and Oscar Carl Olof.

He was indeed to have a kidney transplant thanks to his father, Olle Westling, after learning, at the age of 16, that he was affected by a congenital disease leading to kidney failure. During his engagement to Victoria of Sweden, at the end of the event and while enjoying the good meal with his guests, the future husband experienced a drop in energy due to his state of health, as explained the journalist behind the new book about the couple. He had to be helped from the table to rest in an adjacent room.” explains the author of the work, specifying that “What happened that night has not been revealed until now.”

“Everyone at the table knew about Daniel’s illness, but then they realized how serious it was. Of course, everyone felt sorry for him that this was happening on his big day and that of Victoria”, he detailed, as reported by our Norwegian colleagues. Unfortunately, the engagement therefore turned out to be “disaster” because of the illness of the young lover. In 2023, Daniel from Sweden openly discussed the kidney transplant he received, during his interview with SVT. Since then, Princess Victoria’s husband has taken medication every day “to keep [s]your kidneys are healthy” and is much better. “I am incredibly grateful and have never had any complications,” he declared, calling himself lucky.
