How do you explain to a child that crying is sometimes necessary?
This is the challenge that brilliantly meets Little Dragon cries for gooda 30-page children's album in Italian format (21×28 cm), specially designed for children aged 4 and over. It is signed Stephanie Leducauthor, and Lomee Asselineillustrator.
Through a sensitive and beautifully illustrated story, this work addresses a universal and important theme, that of the management and expression of emotions. Anger, sadness, fear et joie are intertwined in this story at the same time comforting et inspiring.
A journey into the inner world of children
This is the story of Little Dragona character all rounded and gentle, who never separates from his faithful companion, Doudou. But behind his cute smile hides a secret: sometimes, “things boil” inside him, without knowing how to express it. What to do when tears rise and we prefer to swallow them?
The answer came to him during a meeting with Big Treea figure both wise and reassuring. Grand Arbre, thanks to its warm welcome, its caring listening and its simple words, guides Little Dragon in the exploration of its emotions. Little by little, our hero understands that it is normal to feel pain. sadnessof the fearor even anger. And above all, he learns to let go priseto cry and free himself from this weight he carried in silence.
This story is a metaphor for what many children experience, often overwhelmed by emotions that they do not know how to name.
And that is the strength of this album, it offers a reassuring framework to talk about these great inner upheavals.
A story that feels good
Beyond its story, Little Dragon Cries for Good proves to be an educational tool. Through the meeting between Little Dragon and Big Tree, adults find an accessible way to approach the subject of emotions with children. The book's simple and caring dialogues are an ideal start to encourage little ones to put their own feelings into words. It invites us to open discussions, but also to take a gentler look at tears, often perceived as a weakness.
A work born from a beautiful collaboration
This project is the result of a wonderful collaboration between two friends, Stéphanie Leduc, author, and Lomée Asseline, illustrator. Together, they gave life to a tender universe that touches young and old. Stéphanie Leduc has worked in bookstores for a long time and is passionate about children's literature. She, who has always been sensitive to the emotions of children, was inspired by her experience and her observations, to imagine a story that is both simple and profound, capable of speaking to the hearts of little readers.
I wrote this story with children and parents in mind who are seeking to better understand themselves. I hope that Little Dragon will allow them a moment of exchange and sweetness.
As for Lomée Asseline, this talented illustrator, she knew how to breathe life into the characters. With drawings full of color and emotion, she created a visual universe that perfectly accompanies the story.
Drawing Little Dragon was an incredible adventure. As soon as Stephanie told me the story, the images flowed almost naturally. This project is our first 'baby', and we are very proud of it.
A 100% local work
To bring this work to life, the two creators launched a crowdfunding campaign. Their enthusiasm quickly resonated with the public, and the project reached 125% of its initial goal.
Thanks to this success, the album was able to be printed in 300 copies at the Versailles Normand printing house, in Valognes (Manche), in an eco-responsible approach.
