Students from the CFA Estuaire de Reignac and the Pleine-Selve nursery school participated in the creation of an original book: “The Monstrous Bestiary”. The model of the book and its drawings are currently on display at the Blaye Le Zoetrope municipal cinema until this Saturday, November 30.
A presentation evening was organized on November 22 in the presence of the Reignac trainer who initiated the project, Thomas Gerbier, students from the CAP Équipier multivalente du commerce in charge of writing the book, as well as the vice-president of the Department , Louis Cavaleiro. “It’s good to train future professionals, but it’s also good to train citizens open to culture, that’s what the Reignac training center has to offer,” explains the elected official.
The concept of the 48-page book (14.90 euros) was to invent an imaginary animal, explains Thomas Gerbier: “With my brother, professor of philosophy at the University of Tours, we created a micro editorial structure which has the form of an association whose objective is to publish iconotexts which bring together images and text in a slightly strange way, but not comics. Our first project is the Monstrous Bestiary which was born with my students around the professional masterpiece that they have to carry out as part of their training. And I use this book to promote cultural openness.”
Imagined Features
Around fifteen CFA students wrote a series of texts about an animal that did not exist, giving it characteristics: habitat, physical characteristics, diet, etc. These texts were then transmitted to middle and high school students. sections of Pleine-Selve who created the drawings which provided the illustrations for the book. “This book is a real book with an ISBN, on sale in Tours and Saint-Jean-d'Angély which the public can find by contacting the Reignac center or Éditions du Canapé”. It will also be presented to the public during Livres en citadelle on December 7 and 8.
