With The Cyclops et At Pasha's table Patrick Vincelet presents two worlds inspired by his professional and personal memories.
Established for around twenty years in Préaux-du-Perche, in the commune of Perche-en-Nocé, psychoanalyst Patrick Vincelet is coming tomorrow to the Nogent-le-Rotrou book fair to meet his readers and the public. With two new works to present.
The Cyclops it is the fictionalized story of a young girl who suffered what was not yet called harassment. As a little girl and then as a young girl, her crooked back arouses mockery from her school friends, as do her good academic results. Later, it was a professor and then a doctor who took advantage of her vulnerability.
“It’s a great example of this resilience that we talk about so much”
However, the one they nicknamed the Cyclops, studies, finally has a successful operation and finds a place in life. A success that she later uses to make her main harassers understand their mistakes. “It’s not a sad book, on the contrary. It’s a great example of this resilience that we talk about so much,” underlines Patrick Vincelet.
His other book is really joyful. It's a family history that he pieced together from the notes of his father, a doctor on the Flanders, a transatlantic liner which carried several hundred passengers, luxury suites on deck. To combat seasickness, he invented an anesthetic, the formula of which was one day stolen from his cabin…
The book relates the investigation and the witticisms of the famous people whose table he shared with the pasha: Luis Mariano, Fernandel, Salvador Dali and Gala, Lacan discuss on this liner where everyone seeks to unravel the mystery. “It’s strange how the maritime public was attracted to this book,” underlines the author who likes to vary the atmosphere.
