Sunday, November 17, at the Théâtre-Foirail in Chemillé (Maine-et-Loire), there were many visitors to meet the some 60 writers present for the 8e edition of the Salon Livres en fête des authors de l’Anjou.
Among them, Blandine Cain stands out for her eclecticism. Originally from the Paris region, she began her career working for large companies and consulting firms, before settling for five years in Angers. Then she migrated with her family to Brittany, where she devoted herself to writing.
Thinking of his son
His first self-published novel in 2020, Angevin sweetnessis a family saga with romantic intrigues and the return to the land in Angers. His second, Head elsewhereremains in the same vein by addressing the quest for meaning, high intellectual potential, ancestral Japan and old age.
In 2023, inspired by Axel, his 13-year-old son, Blandine Cain turned to adventure novels for young people. « Pour 113 hoursI wrote thinking about children who must be able to find themselves, identify with one or other of the characters, explains the author. I consciously use words which are not necessarily simple, but which are explained each time. And I had the chance to collaborate with Gaëlle Grizzly for the illustrations. »
Uncooperative booksellers
Another string to her bow, Blandine Cain has designed a guide for all those who want to start a business. “You will not find a magic wand there but rather a traveling companion who will guide you through the twists and turns of business creation, she specifies. Testimonials from entrepreneurs enrich the subject by addressing all the problems without taboo or detour. »
Finally, Blandine Cain talks about the difficulty in finding booksellers who agree to present her works. “For example, none of the booksellers in the city of Angers, large or small, agreed to exhibit my novel Angevin sweetnesswith an evocative title”, she laments.
