The writer brings together in this work the articles from the section In the footsteps of our historypublished in the municipal bulletin since 2016 and the creation of the new commune of Athis-Val-de-Rouvre (Orne).

“I put all of this together in a single volume,” explains the person concerned. “The idea is to tell the story of the eight former communes. » The stories range from antiquity to the beginning of the 20th century, including the Middle Ages.

A passion for history and writing

After carrying out investigations for the work Athis-de-l’Orne over time, the history buff extends its work to surrounding communities.

“I love searching. My husband had an ancestor in the town, so I did genealogy research “, remembers the woman who arrived in the village in 1984. “Before, I didn't know the history of the town, then I got caught up in the game.”

This allows you to discover the history of your village.

In addition to history, she talks about her passion for writing. His two pleasures are found in his latest work.

Athis’ “missed opportunities”

Also, unpublished material adds to this collection, in particular “on the history of local agriculture and on the missed opportunities which could have made Athis-Val-de-Rouvre a town equivalent to Flers, Bagnoles-de-l' Orne or even Lourdes,” smiles Agnès Saget.

“I am referring to historical facts. For example, there was a miracle at Tourailles. Also, before the Second World War, many people came to the town following the story of the miracle of Athis. »
