The municipal library team inaugurated, Monday November 4, 2024, around 2:30 p.m., the first book box in Availles-Limouzine, in the presbytery garden. With the help of volunteers and the work of municipal employees, the old henhouse in the rectory garden was rehabilitated.
Under the leadership of Sandrine Ferry, second deputy mayor, the project was born to establish this place of culture in the heart of the village. “This project follows a request from residents. Following the landscape reading organized by the Viennese architecture, town planning and environment council in 2022, the population wanted this presbytery garden to be open to the public. The old henhouse has been renovated into a book box and offers a place for culture within this natural setting. underlines the chosen one.
“I borrow, I read, I bring back”
This place thus responds to the fundamental principle of book boxes: “I borrow, I read and I bring back. » Availlais can also enrich the fund by depositing works in good condition. Two spaces are offered, one dedicated to novels, the other devoted to nature and gardens.
To guarantee its proper functioning, the place will be under the supervision of Élisabeth Duthoit and Simone Kowalczuk, volunteers at the municipal library, and Sandrine Ferry, in charge of culture and heritage within the municipality.
The book box is accessible seven days a week and 24 hours a day. Two benches have also been installed in the heart of the garden so that you can enjoy a good book on site, in complete peace of mind.
